Meet the team – Rebecca Alfandary

The fourth person to take the ‘Meet the team’ hot seat is Rebecca Alfandary, who works in Business Development in the nursery and education sectors.

Rebecca joined the team at the end of 2018 and has hit the ground running, building great relationships with exciting new clients, and brings her extensive knowledge of the education sector to the team. Over to Rebecca…

1 – Could you tell us a bit about your background before you joined Fundamentally Children?

I have enjoyed working in the education sector for 25+years, I’ve had a wide range of roles from product development and design to manufacturing and marketing.

2 – Could you tell us a bit about your current role?

I am delighted to be looking after all education and nursery clients at Fundamentally Children.

I have a real interest and passion for both of these industries, so it is great to be able to work with companies who supply educational and nursery products.

3 – What’s the best thing about working in the children’s industries?

We get to see some brilliant toys and children’s products, and also to work with a range of companies both large and small.

4 – And the Worst?

It’s sad to see that we no longer have toy shops on the High Street and there are so few opportunities to get hands-on with toys before you buy.

5 – Describe working for Fundamentally Children in three words.

Interesting, diverse and very supportive.

6 – What’s your favourite industry event and why?

I think it would have to be Toy Fair, but I also have a soft spot for the Education Show as I have been going for the last 20+ years, with various hats on.

7 – If you didn’t work in your current role, what would you like to be doing and why?

I think I would like to do something with nature, not sure what but I really like being outside.

8 – What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given from someone in the children’s industries?

Respect and value the honesty and innocence of a child’s opinion.

9 – What’s your all-time favourite children’s toy or app?

I think the Etch-a-Sketch, as it kept me entertained for hours as a child.
