Dr Gummer’s Thoughts:
“Parents need to address the balance of your child’s play versus their use of technology.
Not necessarily cut one in favour of the other.”
Children in the UK are using technology so much that their hand muscles are not developing properly, meaning they are struggling to hold pencils, senior paediatric doctors have said. The overuse of tablets and touchscreen smartphones in children’s early years is said to be preventing them from having enough opportunity to develop hand strength and dexterity through play.
